Victoria Bernal
Victoria Bernal is a professor of anthropology at the University of California, Irvine. Her scholarship in political anthropology contributes to media and IT studies, gender studies and African studies. She is the author of Nation as Network: Diaspora, Cyberspace, and Citizenship (Chicago University Press, 2014), and Cultivating Workers: Peasants and Capitalism in a Sudanese Village (Columbia University Press, 1991). She co-edited the anthology, Theorizing NGOs: States, Feminisms, and Neoliberalism (Duke University Press, 2014). She has carried out ethnographic research in Sudan, Tanzania, Eritrea, Silicon Valley and cyberspace.
