Victoria Bouvier
Victoria (Vicki) Bouvier is a proud Michif (Métis) woman, born and raised in Calgary. Her ancestral connections are with the historical Métis communities of the St. Francois Xavier community of the Red River Settlement and Boggy Creek, Manitoba. She is a doctoral candidate in the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary, with her research exploring how Métis people, born and raised in urban environments, practice and express their self-understandings of Metisness both individually and collectively using an oral model of learning and visual media. Victoria is an Associate Professor at Mount Royal University teaching Indigenous Studies in the department of Humanities and author of a children’s book, Nipin and the Rocks (Bouvier 2012).
