W. D. Phillips
Wyatt D. Phillips is an assistant professor of film and media studies in the Department of English at Texas Tech University. He specializes in the politicaleconomic and industrial histories of American screens, with a special focus on the development of genre. His primary research project investigates the business culture of modernity and the transformation of genre in relation to the development of early mass media. Other research includes an eco-critical study of dammed rivers in American cinema and the political history of the drive-in theatre. He has published articles in collections on adaptation, early cinema and the transnational western and in the journal Film History.
