Warren Carter
Warren Carter is a lecturer in the Department of Art History at The Open University. He has published on the historiography of the social history of art with an introduction and essay on Meyer Schapiro in Renew Marxist Art History (Art Books Publishing Ltd, 2013) that he co-edited as well as an essay on T. J. Clark and O. K. Werkmeister in the Routledge Companion to Marxist Art History (Routledge, 2024). He has also published on the murals produced in Mexico in the post-revolutionary period with pieces in the Oxford Art Journal and Third Text and the essay: ‘The slow fuse of the revolutionary mural: Diego Rivera, poststructuralism and historical revisionism’ (2019). His Ph.D. on the murals funded by federal art projects in Washington, D.C., during the New Deal period will be published by Brill as part of the series in Historical Materialism. He is a founding convenor of the long-running seminar series ‘Marxism in Culture’.
