Wendy Peters
Wendy Peters is an associate professor in the Department of Gender Equality and Social Justice at Nipissing University in the ‘near North’ of Ontario, Canada. She received a Ph.D. in Sociology and Equity Studies from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Her research and teaching interests include representations of privileged and marginalized groups in popular culture with an emphasis on queer representation on television. She has published articles in Canadian Woman Studies/les cahiers de la femme; Critical Studies in Media Communication; Flow: A Critical Forum on Television and Media Culture; Journal of Lesbian Studies; and Sexuality & Culture. She has been a visiting researcher at the Centre for Media and Culture in Education and the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto and a visiting associate professor at the Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences in the Department of Community, Culture and Global Studies at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus.
