Wesley C. Robertson
Wesley C. Robertson is a senior lecturer in Japanese studies at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. His research focuses on the social use of language forms restricted to the written mode, especially in Japanese, subcultural uses of language and language play. His first book, Scripting Japan, was published by Routledge in 2021. He also operates a blog by the same name, which regularly covers new Japanese slang and wordplay, and is the co-host of Lingua Brutallica, an ethnographic podcast which interviews extreme metal artists about their language choices.
