Yazan Badran

Yazan Badran is a Ph.D. fellow of the Research Council – Flanders (FWO) and a researcher at the CEMESO and imec-SMIT research centres at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. His research lies at the intersection of new journalism and political activism in the post-2011 Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. He has written on the political economy of nascent media organizations in that region and the organizational and professional cultures that emerge within them. Badran also holds a M.Sc. in communication studies from the VUB (2015) and a bachelor of engineering degree in computer science from the Nagoya Institute of Technology in Japan (2013).
