Yona Stamatis
Yona Stamatis (Ph.D. in ethnomusicology, University of Michigan) is assistant professor of ethnomusicology at the University of Illinois Springfield specializing in rebetika music of Greece. Recent scholarly publications appear in Voices: A World Forum for Music Therapy, Engaging Students: Essays in Music Pedagogy Journal and Echo: A Music-Centered Journal. Currently, she is co-chair of the Society for Ethnomusicology Anatolian Ecumene Special Interest Group and a member of the College Music Society Ethnomusicology Advisory Board. Dr Stamatis was a recipient of a Fulbright Award, a Constantine Tsangadas fellowship for Hellenic Studies Research and a Mellon Postdoctoral fellowship.
