Yonty Friesem
Yonty Friesem is an associate professor and founding director of the MA in media for social impact at Columbia College Chicago. Yonty provides professional development for media educators as the co-director of the Media Education Lab. Yonty’s work and research in youth media focus on the opportunities to enhance social and emotional skills of students and educators in formal and informal settings through the process of community and alternative media. Yonty is an award-winning filmmaker, educator and advocate who co-founded the MediaEd Institute and the Illinois Media Literacy Coalition.
