Zhiyue Hu

Zhiyue Hu is a China Scholarship Council–funded Ph.D. drama student at the University of Exeter, UK, researching and practising representation of East Asian identities in Britain. Her past research and performance projects are focused on cultural exchange in performance, including a practice-as-research project on the barriers to translating Shakespeare as a Chinese woman. She works as a postgraduate teaching assistant on the MA theatre practice module ‘Cultural Adaptation’ convened by Prof. Graham Ley and Prof. Jerri Daboo. She gained her BA degree at Wuhan University, China, in literature of drama and film and television and MA in theatre practice at the University of Exeter. She is also an associated artist of the East Asian theatre company Cheeky Chin.
