Amanda Williamson has a Ph.D. in somatic movement dance education and therapy. She is an internationally registered somatic movement educator and therapist with the Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA), and one of the historical figures leading the profession. She is a visiting honorary professor at the Centre for Dance Research (C-DaRE), Coventry University, and supervises Ph.D. students at the University of Gloucestershire and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (BCU). She currently directs the two-year professional training programme in bio-somatic dance movement naturotherapy, in association with ISMETA. She is editor of the anthology titled Dance, Somatics and Spiritualities: Contemporary Sacred Narratives, and chief editor of the international peer-review research journal Dance, Movement and Spiritualities. She has recently co-authored a book titled Spiritual Herstories: Call of the Soul in Dance Research. She is director of the Centre for Embodiment and Bio-Somatic Dance Movement Naturotherapy, and works with a wide-range of clients and community groups.
