Amane Kasai

Amane Kasai (BMus, MA, Ph.D. [Tokyo]) is lecturer in Japanese culture at Kyoto University of the Arts. She has published on music and performing arts in modern and contemporary Japan. Her recent works include the co-authored chapter ‘Misora Hibari in Kōhaku Utagassen: From modernity to immortality’ with Shelley Brunt in Handbook of Japanese Music in the Modern Era (Brill, 2023). She is currently working on JSPS-funded research projects on the history of performing arts at tourist sites in Japan and on propaganda arts in East Asia during the Cold War.
