Annamari Vänskä

Dr. Annamari Vänskä is Professor of Fashion Research at the Department of Design at Aalto University. She currently leads the research project 'Intimacy, Creative Work and Design' in the consortium Intimacy in Data-Driven Culture (IDA), funded by the Strategic Research Council at the Academy of Finland. Vänskä’s research focuses on fashion and visual culture, particularly on mediatization of fashion, fashion and queer-theory, and fashion curating. Her recent books include Fashionable Childhood: Children in Fashion Advertising (2017), Fashion Curating: Critical Practice in the Museum and Beyond (co-edited with Hazel Clark, 2018) and Understanding Fashion Scandals (co-authored with Olga Gurova, forthcoming in 2022).
