Carol Marie Webster

Carol Marie Webster is an artist, social scientist and creative entrepreneur committed to critical peacebuilding, social justice and education across the life course. She received her B.Sc. in physical education from Hunter College of New York City in the United States (2000) and bachelor’s degree in religious studies (2003), master’s degrees in religious studies (2005) and in cultures and development studies (2005) from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium. She earned her Ph.D. in sociology (interdisciplinary gender studies – focused on race, religion, gender and performance) from the University of Leeds (2013) in the United Kingdom. In 2013, she became an Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Cultural Engagement Research Fellow at the Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH) at the University of Oxford. She was a visiting scholar at the Institute for Religion, Culture, and Public Life (IRCPL) and the Department of Religion at Columbia University (2017–19). She works across the arts, humanities, sciences and social sciences to transform curriculum, building inclusive learner-centred embodied education experiences.
