Çiğdem İvren

Çiğdem İvren is a Ph.D. candidate at the Free University Berlin and a research assistant at the Professorship of Islamic Art and Archaeology at the University of Bamberg in Germany, where she teaches courses on Islamic, modern, and contemporary art from the SWANA region. Her dissertation examines artistic and cultural production during the Civil War period in Lebanon. Recently she worked as a research associate within the ERC-funded project ‘Lebanon’s Art World at Home and Abroad’. She is the co-editor of Encompassing the Sacred in Islamic Art and Architecture (Beiträge zur Islamischen Kunst und Archäologie, 2020).
