Edward Banchs

Edward Banchs is a freelance writer, independent researcher and author whose works have primarily focused on the relationship between heavy metal and the sub-Saharan African continent. His writings have been featured in various publications, including The Guardian, Metal Hammer, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, i-D, Huck, Afropop, Decibel and the journal Metal Music Studies. He is the author of two books: Heavy Metal Africa: Life, Passion and Heavy Metal in the Forgotten Continent (Word Association, 2016) and Scream for Me Africa! Heavy Metal Identities in Post-Colonial Africa (Intellect, 2021). He lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
