John Wood

During his time at art school in the 1960s, John acquired an interest in systemic thinking by building electronic sound installations. He then tinkered with solar energy devices and, for a short time, manufactured and marketed one of his energy management inventions. John is emeritus professor of design at Goldsmiths, University of London, and professor of practice at the University of Wales Trinity St David where, with Julia Lockheart, he co-founded the Metadesign Research Centre. After ten years as deputy head of fine art at Goldsmiths, he wrote several radical and holistic design degrees that established a basis for what now exists as the Department of Design. John is also co-founder and co-editor of the Journal of Writing in Creative Practice and an active musician with Professors of Pop and the cult band Deaf School.
