Julia Lockheart

Julia Lockheart is professor of creative practices at Swansea College of Art, University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD), and associate lecturer in design, affiliated to Goldsmiths, University of London. Julia’s research explores dreams, visual narrative capture, languaging and collaborative writing as a tool for the creation and articulacy of new knowledge drawn from art and design practice. She is an artist, poet and writer. Julia is director of the WritingPAD network (2002–present) and co-founder and editor of the Journal of Writing in Creative Practice (Intellect). She is director of the Metadesign Research Centre at UWTSD and has contributed two chapters to Metadesigning Designing in the Anthropocene (ed. John Wood, 2022) published by Routledge. Under the name DreamsID, she has performed internationally with her collaborator Professor Mark Blagrove. Her book, The Science and Art of Dreaming, co-written with Blagrove, was published by Routledge in 2023.
