Juan Cole

Juan Cole is the Richard P. Mitchell Collegiate professor of history at the University of Michigan and director of the programme in Arab and Muslim American studies in the American Culture Department. He is past president of the Middle East Studies Association of North America. His recent books include Peace Movements in Islam (I.B. Tauris, 2021), Muhammad: Prophet of Peace amid the Clash of Empires (Bold Type, 2018), The New Arabs: How the Millennial Generation is Shaping the Middle East (Simon and Schuster, 2014) and Engaging the Muslim World (St. Martin, 2009).
