Kim Varhola

Kim Varhola is an assistant professor of drama and musical theatre at Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea. Her career in the performing arts as an actor, director, marketing manager, educator and more spans over three decades. She appeared on Broadway in Rent, Flower Drum Song, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Pacific Overtures. She has helmed concerts for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, East West Players, Kia Motors, Samsung, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, the National Theater of Korea and the Seoul Philharmonic. Her writing is featured in The Routledge Companion to Musical Theatre (Routledge, 2022), Dance in Musical Theatre: A History of the Body in Movement (Methuen, 2023) and the Japanese version of the Korean musical The Devil. She holds a BS degree in theatre from Northwestern University, an MA degree in arts administration from Columbia University and an MA degree in cinema studies from New York University.
