Lasse Lau

Lasse Lau is an award winning visual artist, filmmaker, and queer and social activist. His work addresses challenges and pitfalls in the readings of spaces. His most recent film, Sound from the Hallways, revisits history of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo to challenge concepts of historicism and museology, from a time of the early 20th century when history was still seen as universal, to a time where several histories and narratives challenge each other for the semblance of reality. The film was selected for Copenhagen Documentary Film festival Competition, shown at the British Museum in London, Bozar in Brussels, Lumiar Cite in Lisbon, The Museum of Resistance in Torino, and the Goethe Institute and Cinematheque in Cairo. He is co-editor of the books Queer Geographies and The Second World Congress of Free Artists. He studied at the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program, Berlin University of Art, and the Funen Academy of Fine Art.
