Litheko Modisane

Litheko Modisane is a senior lecturer at the Centre for Film and Media Studies, University of Cape Town and a recent fellow of the African Humanities Programme (AHP) – a programme of the American Council of Learned Societies. Modisane earned his Ph.D. at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He is the author of the award-winning book South Africa’s Renegade Reels! The Making and Public Lives of Black-Centered Films (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013). His scholarship is wide-ranging and includes African cinema(s), documentary film, African diasporic cinema(s), African literature(s), public sphere theory and its relation to African films.
