Mariel Vilella Casaus

Mariel Vilella has an academic background in Sociology (Bachelor’s Degree, Universitat de Barcelona), Discourse Analysis and Argumentation (Masters at Universiteit van Amsterdam), Crisis and Risks Communication course (Universitat Rovira i Virgili) and is currently undertaking her Ph.D thesis in the Social Communication program of Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Alongside her academic career, she has worked in research and strategic campaigning for raising awareness on environmental justice issues in Spain, UK and The Netherlands; she's also been co-director of the documentary TranXgenia, executive co-editor of Opcions, publications coordinator,  and writer, as well as a member of many social justice collectives. Nowadays, her research areas of interest are political and environmental communication and global climate policies. She is currently working as Climate Policy Advisor at GAIA, Global Alliance for Incineration Alternatives.
