Monique Webber

Monique Webber teaches at the University of Melbourne and Monash University – Art Design and Architecture. Her research and writing centres on contemporary art’s relationship with society past and present, architectural criticism and the impact of urban environments on cultural expression. Webber was the 2017–18 State Library of Victoria La Trobe Society Fellow, with a project focused on urban sculpture in modern Melbourne. The major article from this fellowship is forthcoming, as is a book chapter on the transition from Old Master to modern paintings in early-twentieth-century Australia in Old Masters Worldwide: Markets, Movements and Museums, 1789–1939 (2020).
