Rachel Johnson

Dr Rachel Johnson is a lecturer in film studies at the University of Leeds. Her research interests include contemporary Italian cinema, European film festivals, cinemas of migration, psychoanalysis and ideology critique. She has co-authored a chapter on the trope of flow in relation to modernity, migration and cinema with Prof. Alan O’Leary, in Transnational Modern Languages: A Handbook (Liverpool University Press, forthcoming 2020). She teaches widely on Italian cinema and is co-director of Leeds Cineforum. Her research is funded by the White Rose College of the Arts and Humanities (Arts and Humanities Research Council, UK).
