Samia ElSheikh
Samia Ahmed ElSheikh is a professor of art education and teaches handweaving and fibre arts at the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University, Egypt, since 1982. She was 2017–22 vice president of InSEA. Her latest achievement was gaining the international Edwin Ziegfeld 2023 award from USSEA. She also received the 2023 Mahmoud Elbasiony award from InSEA. Since receiving her Ph.D. through a channel programme between Universities of Helwan and New York in 1993, her research interests have spanned in-service arts education and fibre arts issues. She is an artist, weaver, researcher and teacher deeply committed to the arts and education.
