Souvik Mukherjee
Dr Souvik Mukherjee is an associate professor in cultural studies in the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta in Kolkata, India. A pioneering researcher on video games in South Asia, he is the author of Videogames and Storytelling: Reading Games and Playing Books (Palgrave Macmillan, 2015), Videogames and Postcolonialism: Empire Plays Back (Springer UK, 2017) and Videogames in the Indian Subcontinent (Bloomsbury, 2022). Besides his interest in postcolonialism in video games, he also researches ancient Indian board games. He was named a ‘DiGRA Distinguished Scholar’ in 2019. He also teaches early modern English literature and digital humanities. His databases on the Dutch Cemetery at Chinsurah, the Scottish Cemetery in Kolkata and the nineteenth-century Bengali industrialist, Mutty Lall Seal, are all available in open access.
