Zsófia Orosz-Réti

Zsófia Orosz-Réti is a senior lecturer at the Department of British Studies of the Institute of English and American Studies, University of Debrecen. She gained her Ph.D. in 2015, focusing on the popular culture of the 1980s in Hungary and its cultural memory ever since. Her fields of research include gender studies, film studies, postcolonial studies and game studies. Right now, she is primarily interested in the limits of agency in the medium of video games. Her most recent publications in the field include ‘An actually existing dystopia: Othering Eastern Europe and the lived experience of an authoritarian regime in Black: The fall’ in Studies in Eastern European Cinema, (2023, pp. 85–97) and ‘Storytelling, interactivity, and agency in film–video game hybrids’ in Encounters of the Popular Kind (2021, pp. 45–54).
