Eleni Papargyriou is an assistant professor in Modern Greek Literature at the University of Patras. She taught at King’s College London in 2009–13 and has held research and teaching positions at the University of Vienna, Oxford University, Princeton University and the University of Ioannina, Greece. She has published the monograph Reading Games in the Greek Novel (Oxford, Legenda 2011) and numerous articles on intertextuality and the novel, the cultural implications of (self)translation and the rapport between literary text and photographic image. She has co-edited the volumes Camera Graeca: Photographs, Narratives, Materialities (Ashgate, 2015), Cavafy Pop: Readings of C.P. Cavafy in Popular Culture (special issue of the Journal of Greek Media and Culture 1:2, 2015) and Greece in British Women’s Literary Imagination 1913–2013 (Peter Lang, 2017). She is currently working on a book-length project on the Greek literary photobook.
