Faith Kane

Faith Kane is a design researcher and educator working in the area of textiles and materials. Her research interests include design for sustainability; interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary working in the design/science space; and the role and value of craft knowledge within these contexts. Projects include ‘Laser Enhanced Biotechnology for Textile Design’ funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council UK (2012–15) and Materials Design for Sustainability New Zealand (NZ) funded by Massey University, which focuses on establishing place-based approaches to textiles and materials design, with specific reference to Harakeke (NZ Flax). She is a senior lecturer and programme coordinator for textiles at the School of Design, College of Creative Arts at Massey University in Wellington, NZ. Prior to this she was a lecturer and led the Textile Design Research Group at The School of the Arts, Loughborough University UK (2008–16). Faith is also a founder editor of the Journal of Textile Design Research and Practice, published by Routledge Taylor Francis. More information about her work can be found at: www.faithkane.com.
