Lucian Georgescu
Dr Lucian Georgescu is a professor of film and media at The National Film and Theatre University (UNATC) in Bucharest, Romania, where he fundamentally reshaped the screenwriting curricula in the last decade. He is a FIPRESCI and Creative Commons member, and a member of the UNATC Scientific Editorial Board and of the Screenwriters Research Network Executive Council. His research focuses on the narrative paradigms of the road movie genre. His internationally published texts are ‘The New Romanian Cinema at the point of no return’ in East, West and Centre: Reframing Post-1989 European Cinema (Edinburgh University Press, 2014) and ‘The road movies of the New Romanian Cinema’ in Studies in Eastern European Cinema (2012). Other research interests include the application of the open-source concept to cinema distribution and the impact of the streaming industry on the contemporary film language. A pioneer in the Romanian audio-visual commercial industry and of the national cultural marketing movement, he is the founder and acting president of cinepub.ro, a curated AVoD platform for independent cinema.
