Maria Boletsi

Maria Boletsi is an endowed professor of modern Greek studies at the University of Amsterdam (Marilena Laskaridis chair) and an assistant professor of film and comparative literature, Leiden University. She has published on various topics, including the cultural history of barbarism, crisis rhetoric and grammars of resistance in literature and (public) art in Greece and the Mediterranean, and fictionality in the post-truth era. Her publications include Barbarism and Its Discontents (Stanford University Press, 2013) and the co-edited volumes Languages of Resistance, Transformation, and Futurity in Mediterranean Crisis-Scapes (Palgrave, 2020) and (Un)timely Crises (Palgrave, 2021). Her latest monograph, Specters of Cavafy, is forthcoming in 2023 by Michigan University Press.
