Mauricio Barría Jara
Dr Mauricio Barría Jara is a playwright and performance researcher, doctor in philosophy with mention in aesthetics and art theory. He is associate professor of the Theater Department of the Universidad de Chile. He has published Intermitencias. Ensayos sobre teatro, performance y visualidad (Universitaria, 2014) and Escenas políticas. Teatro entre revueltas 2006–2019 in co-authorship with Iván Insunza (Oxímoron, 2023) and about fifty articles in national and international journals and books. Between 2020–23 he worked on the research project ‘Intensities of Presence: Time, Perception and Counter Accelerations in Contemporary Performance’ (Fondecyt). His work as a playwright has always explored the links between words and sound, moving recently towards radio theatre and sound art formats for public spaces.
