Aims & Scope
Artifact: Journal of Design Practice responds to the growing self-confidence within the design research environment and provides a platform for nurturing and extending the fertile grounds of its contemporary practices. The aim of the journal is to call for and publish research in the domain of practice-based, constructive and artistic design research at the highest international level. With every call for papers the journal encourages submissions of research that strives to reach beyond disciplinary and topical boundaries to support exchange and cross-fertilization of insights and methodologies.
Artifact: Journal of Design Practice is a fully Open Access journal that does not charge APCs or submission fees. Submitted manuscripts are first discussed by the editorial team and, if found fit for further deliberation, manuscripts are then sent for double-blind peer review by anonymous experts from the research community. Articles are published under a Creative Commons licence (either CC BY or CC BY NC) which allows users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of these articles – download OA licence agreement below for more information on Creative Commons licence options.
NB. This OA licence agreement must be filled out, signed and attached to any submission via the journal management system.
Submissions
To submit an article, please follow the 'Submit' button on the left of this page.
All articles submitted should be original work specifically related to active open calls for papers and must not be under consideration by other publications.
Download the Notes for Contributors below and the Intellect Style Guide for information on format and style of submissions. If you need this document in a more accessible format, please contact info@intellectbooks.com. Find more information on Intellect's Accessibility page.
Peer Review Policy
All articles undergo initial editorial screening either by the journal's Editorial Team and/or incumbent Guest Editors. Articles then undergo a rigorous anonymous peer review by two referees, following the guidance in Intellect's 'Peer review instructions'. Based on this feedback, the Editors will communicate a decision and revision suggestions to authors. To appeal an editorial decision, please contact the main Editor who will consider your case.
Ethical Guidelines
The journal follows the principles set out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Read our Ethical Guidelines for more on the journal's standards.
